Proof / Case — Zoetrope

The frame that paints,
speaks and listens.

Zoetrope is a physical product line of generative-AI art frames, designed, built and assembled in Brussels — and shipped end to end by the same model we sell: a tiny senior team plus agents.

33″ + 13.3″

two hardware lines: a large LCD frame with animation, and a silent Spectra 6 e-ink frame for watercolor, engraving and line art.

70 / 32

languages understood vs spoken: Whisper-powered voice control in ~70 languages, artwork narrated in 32 (ElevenLabs) — not counting English variants or the four French accents.

40 in 100

forty runtime releases in the first hundred days — v1.1 in March to v3.0.0 in July. Agent-assisted embedded development, at web speed.

What it does

FIG. 01

Ask for a Breton harbor
in a storm. Get one.

A Zoetrope doesn't display a catalogue of images — it generates original artwork, every night or on demand, with no repetition and no mandatory subscription. Ask out loud, gesture, or use the app.

It recognizes the family's faces and paints their portraits in any style. It locks onto an artist, a school or a palette when you want consistency. On the 33″ model, it animates: water moves, snow falls. And it can print your favorite piece on a 60×60 cm canvas, mounted in Brussels.

  • Nightly generation of original artwork — infinite gallery
  • Four control modes: LLM voice (~70 languages via Whisper), classic voice (6), gestures, prompt buttons
  • Speaks back: narrates its artwork in 32 languages via ElevenLabs
  • Portrait recognition: your family, painted in any style
  • Style Lock: freeze an artist, school or color palette
  • Scene modification: add subjects, change seasons, adjust light
  • Animation on the 33″ LCD line
  • Canvas printing service for the pieces you love

Why it's on this site

FIG. 02

One small team.
The whole stack.

Zoetrope is what the post-agency model looks like applied to a physical product. The same few people — amplified by agents — cover what would traditionally take four or five specialized companies:

  • Embedded runtime on Raspberry Pi (LCD and e-ink variants)
  • Generation pipelines: images, animation, voice — orchestrating multiple AI models
  • Cloud administration platform for the whole fleet
  • Customer app (app.zoetrope.art): galleries, generation, sharing, printing
  • The e-commerce site, the brand, the content — everything you see at zoetrope.art

The release rhythm tells the story: forty embedded releases in the first hundred days, from v1.1 to v3.0.0 — animation queues, model swaps, persistence across restarts — the kind of cadence hardware teams associate with web apps.
